Angel’s Face ’23 Resort Collection: Garden Party Games And Sea-Side Frolics The tinkle of ice in lemonade jugs under the Summer sun. The lilt of laughter across mowed lawns, the kerplunk of mallet heads against croquet balls; serene blue skies, the freshness of frozen sorbet, children in striped bathing suits dancing through sprinklers, vintage botanic-printed tablecloths billowing in the breeze, aquamarine and tangerine poolside loungers and cupcakes frosted in all their pastel glory. / Angel’s Face ’23 Resort Collection is redolent with nostalgia, playfulness, whimsy, and wit. Founder and designer Keely Deininger explains the source of her inspiration: “We used to have a lot of garden parties during summer when my children were younger; they were always such fun. We would set up a lemonade stand and then spend the whole day in the garden playing croquet. For this collection, I turned the clock back a little. My children now work with me so they remember spending the whole day outside enjoying the sunshine and the fresh air. It was a wholesome way to spend the day, picnicking and playing in the garden with family and friends.” / Snowdrops, bluebells, lilac, and daffodils are blooming, signalling the time to put away our dark heavy clothing and step out into the light. For Angel’s Face, late spring leading into summer means pattern and print, large cabbage roses and lovely jacquards. It’s a time to dress up for the sheer joy of it, matching accessories, shoes and bags in metallics with pastel-coloured headbands, visors, bucket hats and left-of-centre retro sunglasses. Says Keely, “This season I have gone for the gentle colours of sugar-coated almonds you used to get as wedding favours mixed with metallic gold threads. There is opulent white and gold large hounds tooth teamed with gold knitwear twinsets; bubble gum pink and sunny yellow separates adorned with sequins, candy stripes in cotton Tencel and swimwear with a fifties feel. There are also more textures than usual, giving the summer collection added personality and making the colours pop.” / “Perhaps my favourite piece,” says Keely, “is the pink kaftan with sequins around the neck. It just shouts ‘holiday’.” It also brings together all the elements that Angel’s Face is known for: luxury and attention to detail combined with a quirky imagination and a passion for play. / Key looks from the collection Fresh as a Daisy Nothing says summer, smiles, and eternal sunshine like an embroidered daisy tulle dress. A ruffled yolk and neckline make it ethereal; and rose-tinted round flower glasses framed with pink and pearls remind us that when you’re a little girl, more is always, well… more! / Daisy Pretty as a Petal A floral jacquard in tonal pinks with metallic thread adds rich texture to a capped split-petal-sleeved garden party dress. A gold heart-charmed bow at the waistline echoed on a matching bucket hat puts the finishing touches on an elegant outfit. / Match that! A luxurious houndstooth dress in metallic gold and white with short, puffed sleeves and a giant bow front and centre let you know the game is on! Wear it with a matching sporty visor, long socks, and gold sandals to score a winning six-peg point this Summer. / Cabbage Rose Blue and white cabbage-rose printed tulle comes to life against sun-kissed skin. Pair a white cotton tee dressed up with extravagant tiered tulle sleeves and a matching skirt. A small Angel’s Face gold heart charmed bow on the tee mirrors the opulent white satin bow on the skirt’s waistline… because luxury is in the detail. / Pretty Simple A bubble gum pink, lemon meringue yellow, and white block-coloured vest dress speaks to simplicity, freedom, and carefree fun. Up-level the look with a big satin heart-charmed hair bow that is both sweet and celebratory. / Colour me Beautiful Tangerine and lilac go together like waffle cones and ice cream. A gentle lilac petal tiered tulle skirt has the translucent quality of butterfly wings. Team it with a retro-orange tee. Pouf-capped sleeves printed with sweet alyssum tie the colours together for a casually coordinated look. / Layers of Loveliness Shorts become showstoppers when trimmed with satin bows along the pockets. Layer the look with a white poplin cuffed blouse with a peter pan collar that has embroidered bows peering over the ribbed neckline of a navy, light blue, and lemon curd yellow crochet sleeveless pullover. Accessorise with a bow-trimmed peak cap, long socks, and sandals. / Match or Mix Lemon, white, leaf green, and pale pink botanicals on tailored shorts teamed with a sequin-encrusted petal-sleeved tee mix colour, print and texture in a way that speaks to freedom and flights of fancy. A tie-dye tulle skirt with a frill strapped vest and a tie-dye headband, all in the colours of sugar-coated almonds show that matching can also be magic. / A sun-bleached kaleidoscope Muted criss-cross tie-dye gives the impression of a spring garden seen through the filtered lenses of a sundrenched room. Pouf-capped sleeves with the lightness of freshly spun candyfloss, and an extravagant double satin bow front and centre, finish the look. / Darling Denim Frilled shoulders, a mandarin collar and a double peplum take the urban edge off a denim jacket. Wear with matching shorts for a look that is suited to the seaside. / Pool-side Pink If Bridget Bardot were five years old she’d be wearing this look: A pink and white striped seersucker full piece bathing suit with frilled edges, worn with a wide bow trimmed headband and white daisy glasses encrusted with pearls. This season’s collection leans towards matching ensembles and co-ordinated outfits. But as always Angel’s Face girls wear what they love. “No rules,” says Keely. “If they love it, it goes together.”
